What are some careers for a geology major?

I’ve loved earth science for the longest time, and am currently working on getting my BS in geology. However, I’ve been told that most geologists end up getting a career with oil industries. While this normally wouldn’t be a problem, I just wanted to make sure that I have other job opportunities I could check out. I want to go on and get my Masters to keep my options open, but could someone please tell me what other careers there are out there?

The Shay locomotive was designed to be used in a resource setting. Resource railways are one type of industrial line constructed to permit the removal of natural resources from remote areas to either processing centres or more centralized transfer points. The mining and forestry industries are two fields best known for their early reliance on railways to transport raw natural resources from remote areas. In the British Columbia forestry industry, railways were used to transport timber up until the 1950s, when they were replaced by logging roads and trucks. Forestry railways were comparatively short-lived lines that were built cheaply and frequently below the standards of mainline railways. The tracks were characterized by sharp curves and steep grades that matched local terrain and the logging company’s limited budget rather than rigid railway standards. i’m a junior in hs. and i’m starting to think of my future. i know i want to major in pyschology, but i can’t choose between the careers. i wanted to be a school pyschologist or just a psychologist, but are there any other careers i can pursue? and what colleges should i apply for in southern california with a good psychology program?
sorry, but i don’t know a lot, but i wasn’t referring to just a bachelor’s degree, but if i get a masters too….i’m not exactly sure how the whole thing works…

I am quite interested in current events; I enjoy reading the newspaper, various websites, and watching the news to get caught up in current events. I am thinking of a career in news, but not being a newsreporter (I am really shy and awful in front of the camera) or being a journalist (I’m not the ‘journalist’ type, as in the ‘do anything to get the story’ type), although I really love writing and consider it one of my skills.
Does anyone know of any careers related to current events/news reporting? Thanks!

I’ve always had a thing for building things, seeing how stuff works, and putting things together. I know there are jobs like mechanical engineers but that’s not really the career i’d want to go into. i like sewing clothes but i wouldnt become a fashion designer either. i just like to figure out how things go together. it’s probably a little irrelevant, but any careers with how the body works too?
