You only need to see the history of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan to tell that global brands like Toyota, Sony, Samsung, and Hyundai won’t emerge from China. Why is that? Because of Chinese tendency to pursue short term profits in exchange for a long term growth, and the government’s failure to establish an economic plan with a long term vision. You cannot compare Chinese with Japanese/Korean for following reasons. 1. Japanese/Korean had tiny domestic markets and were forced to crack US and EU markets just to survive from the beginning. China’s domestic market is rather large. In fact, engineering cars to be US/EU regulation compliant could be fatal in a market condition where there is zero regards for safety and quality, and consumers shop only based on pricing alone. Make your car better than your competitor and raise your price, your competitor undercuts your price with an inferior but cheaper (and poisonous) products and you are dead in China where the prices drop every quarter. 2. New Delhi, June 19(ANI): Now it’s the turn of car makers to join the eco-friends Bandwagon…And Honda is leading the way in India. Honda Siel Cars India launched India’s first hybrid car, the Civic Hybrid in New Delhi on Wednesday. Japan’s Honda Motor Company said it would start selling the hybrid car from the end of this month. Launching the car, CEO of Honda India said the car was fuel-efficient and also had a high fun-to-drive quotient.

if we tax the car makers for selling gas guzzlers and the anti-christians that drive them [because you must ask youself 'what would jesus drive?'] and we can double the average miles per gallon are we not making it harder for terrorist to buy or make a nuke like iran? even though those that have fuel efficent cars pay a lot less in taxes because they use a lot less they do more than save gas they 1. save the envorment with less polution and 2. make the price of gas go down simple becassue of less use! and 3. they make less traffic because of smaller cars on the road take up less space and 4. use less materials to make the car so you can make more with less money and finally 5. they damage the roads less because if you ever look at a road with large trucks that drive on it frequentlly you see for yourself!
