HDTV is high definition television and it can make a huge difference in your television viewing experience. Most consumers describe the HDTV experience as being closer to watching a movie in the theater than watching a standard television set in their living room. HDTV offers a digital picture with a higher resolution than normal television screens resulting in a clearer, crisper picture. It also offers the ability to watch wide-screen movies and programs without the annoying black bars that your regular television displays(you know, the ones your mom won’t stop complaining about). It is the way the movie directors intended you to watch their films.

With your current regular color television, waves are scanned at 480i. This means that at any given time there are 480 lines of a picture being sent to your television screen by your service provider. Odd lines are displayed, followed by even lines. The change happens so quickly, the human eye believes you are seeing one big picture. With the introduction of HDTV, there are more lines transmitted (at either more than double interlaced or progressively) giving us a higher resolution and better quality picture. For an image to be HD it must have 720 lines at a minimum. HDTV is also fully digital and you won’t need to worry about the analog to digital switchover in February of 2009. Upgrading now to an HDTV will give you years of entertainment(as long as there’s something worth watching on TV, if not there are movie channels and reruns of Battlestar Galactica).

In order to enjoy the HDTV experience, you will need to introduce a few things to your home. To get started, you need:

1. A High Definition Television set with the smallest resolution a minimum of 720. If this isn’t the case the TV is only “HD Compatible”. That means it’ll downgrade an HD signal to a normal signal and that’s not what you want. High Definition television sets are available at most consumer electronic stores and online stores and they are becoming increasingly more affordable for the public. These sets are the first step in obtaining a clearer, picture that provides an experience similar to being at the football game, movie theater, boxing match, etc.

2. An HD source like satellite TV service, cable or antenna. Even with an HDTV, you may not notice any difference in normal channels. The channel must be broadcast in high definition in order to see the advanced quality in picture.

3. A way to receive the source signal (a satellite system is a great option)

Both satellite dish service and cable generally offer some HD channels, but satellite providers are able to offer more of these channels than your local cable company. Be aware that digital channels typically offered and promoted by cable companies are not the same as HD signals.

In addition to a better quality picture, you will also enjoy higher quality sound with HDTV. The digital audio sound provides even more of a movie theater-like experience in your home. It will sound like you’re in the arena when you watch a sporting event and in a movie theater when the bullets fly during an action money. To provide the best in entertainment quality in your home, HDTV is the way of the future. As more channels are broadcast in HD format your television viewing experience will improve and get better and better over a time.

Satellite providers not only offer HD channels but their other channels are transmitted via a high quality digital signal. This results in a clearer picture than the analog signal offered by many cable companies.

Showoffs was a Goodson-Todman game show that aired on the ABC television network for six months in 1975 from June 30 through December 26, with Bobby Van as the host and Gene Wood as the announcer. The original host was to be Larry Blyden, but he died in a car crash in between the filming of the pilot and the first week of shows. Showoffs was later revived on CBS under the name Body Language, with Tom Kennedy as the host. Two teams (the red & blue) of three players (consisting of two celebrities & one civilian contestant, with each member wearing a sweater of the corresponding team color) competed in a game of charades. Because the team colors were indistinguishable on black and white television sets (which were still commonplace at this point in time), the words “REDS” and “BLUES” were later placed on the front of each team member’s sweater for the benefit of home viewers. The main game The main game had two formats in its six month run. Format one One team was isolated while two members of the other team acted out a series of words to their partner for sixty seconds. The actors could alternate in acting, and the guessing partner could pass on a word if he/she were stuck, but the team could do that only once per game. When time ran out, the isolated team returned to the stage, and acted out the same words as the first team. The team that guessed the most words in two minutes (60 seconds per team) won the round. The first team to win two rounds won the game. If the game …

A play on the film title New Jack City, the opening level is a massive junkyard filled with trash. It is almost entirely lined with car tires and features a hidden toilet, several trophy moose heads and a conveyor belt with bowls of goldfish, bells, old television sets, faucets and construction site cones. The level also includes possibly the most memorable and famous feature about the Earthworm Jim series: launching a cow into the stratosphere, one that would later haunt Jim. Near the beginning of the level, he comes across a fridge hovering above one end of a tree branch, which has a cow standing above the other end. He cannot progress until removing the fridge from the crane that holds it in the air. Upon whipping it or bumping his head into it 3 times, the fridge is released, landing on the branch and launching the cow into the sky. With a loud moo, a “Cow Launched” title flashes momentarily onto the screen and the level continues. Enemies in the level include worm-hungry crows that snap at Jim’s head, junkyard guard dogs that try to eat Jim and two bosses. The mini boss is an animated garbage can with tires for arms and legs and a desk lamp for a head. It has two forms: car mode and human mode. While in car mode and stationary, it shoots anvils at Jim. Video was “inspired” (several years ago) by a feeling of information overload and the methods of present day News casting. Mixed with the excellent George Michael track “praying for time”. I took clips from every visual medium available (pictures, newspapers, video, DVD, Television, Internet etc) and edited them into small combined clips with static intros etc. This was to give the impression of hundreds of television sets. I captured images/clips at different times over the space of a few years (to get some variation) and to allow the piece to focus on more than one moment in time.

n his usual form, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter told a packed crowd at the Oriental Theater in Denver to stop whining about corporate media and become their own intelligence operatives. We the people have the same resources and tools that intelligence networks rely heavily on; its called Google he said. In his hilarious analogy, the American people like baby birds wait each night in front of their television sets for the corporate news bird to land in their living room and lovingly puke down our necks with that days regurgitated news. Suggesting that as our own intelligence operatives we cant allow CNN, FOX, NBC, and ABC to edit and cherry pick information, but ask questions and find the answers ourselves. In that vein TruthAlliance.net Editor Jason Charles had a few questions for Mr. Ritter which he graciously allowed us to film. We explored 3 topics, if the Bush admin got its way in the mid-east what would it look like, how can these dis-separate yet justice driven revolutions in America unite, and his amazing thoughts on a new, fully empowered investigation into the cause of 9-11. He asked, Did Bush and Cheney Plan the demise of the building? Was this a terrorist attack by Al-Qaeda? Or was it something in between? Well frankly we dont know. How important is this to establishing justice? Mr. Ritter seems to think it is an absolute requirement to know what happened on 9-11
