I home schooled my daughter though the 2nd grade because we just moved, and my daughter had friends. And for those of you who think home schooling makes a child have no friends are you telling me that school is the only setting possible for a child to learn to inter act with other children?

As parents ourselves, it is a very complex, difficult and yet a meaningful task in bringing up our kids. Not to mention of thinking of using a self-developed home schooling program for them.

The importance of selecting the right home schooling program cannot be undermined and has to be very careful and unique to each and every child.

How challenging it can be?

It can be a challenging proposition; some might even say a very difficult one to make. However, the benefits of a successful home schooling program far outweigh the challenges and obstacles anyone can imagine.

Are you getting the benefits of a successful home schooling program?

1) Having such program at home gives your child the ability to learn at their own pace. Your child can benefit from a teaching method, which has been created to cater to their inclinations and learning styles.

2) It provide bonding between you and your children the opportunities to grow together, because you spend more time together.

3) You will have better control over your students or your kids of their schedule, as they can prioritize which interest to give attention to.

What are the 3 simple steps in choosing a home schooling program to which your child will respond to with enthusiasm and interest.

Step 1 – You have to conduct serious research. Call and talk with the local school board district office about the requirements the state may have on home schooling children.

Get hard copies of these documents. Ask if the information given is insufficient and secure this information. You will need this as a guide in selecting a home schooling program.

You also have to contact home schooling associations or organizations in your county or city. These groups can provide crucial information about your school district while serving as socialization venues for the children.

Step 2 – Study and research the curriculum carefully. The optimum curriculum is one that seamlessly integrates the subjects. For instance, your child is learning science, while simultaneously using the English language grammar rules and concepts.

The right home schooling program uses the information gained on the student’s learning skills and inclinations, incorporates all of these to enhance their learning experiences.

Step 3 – Prepare early and plan the lesson way in advance. Once you have chosen the home schooling program, buy the materials. Review them and make advance lesson plans on how you would be able teach these subjects.

You have to make a daily chart for their assignments, and other supplementary activities ahead of time. This will help you respond to changes in your teaching routine in a positive way.

By following these 3 steps, I am sure you will make your search for the right home schooling program a fruitful one.

That’s why, Eddy has started an information guide on how to help parents like yourself to deal with home schooling issues and offer good how to develop you little genius in your kids.

**This is taken from www.cbn.com CBN News was first to bring the story of Melissa Busekros to American television last year. The home-schooled teenager was snatched from her family by police in a SWAT style raid and put in a psychiatric ward. After an international uproar, Melissa was returned to her family. But other home-schooling families face even worse persecution. More and more parents are being sent to prison. Heavy fines are leaving home-schooling families destitute. And more and more children have been taken into state custody. A lot of American Christians would have good reason not to want their kids subjected to German state schools. The sex education curriculum is often pornographic, even for young ages, and the occult is often celebrated.

From Canada Free Press: Swedish Government Seizes Child from Home Schooling Family “GOTLAND, Sweden, December 23, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) — A Christian home schooling family could permanently lose custody of their only child simply because they home-school. Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) are joining forces as legal advisors to the family in order to persuade the Swedish government to return the seven-year-old child to his parents. ‘Parents have the right and authority to make decisions regarding their childrens education without government interference, said ADF Legal Counsel Roger Kiska, who is based in Europe. This is about a socialist government trying to create a cookie-cutter child in its own image. Without help, the parents in these cases are really powerless since the system is so one sided.’ Swedish authorities forcibly removed Dominic Johansson from his parents, Christer and Annie Johansson, in June of last year from a plane they had boarded to move to Annies home country of India. The officials did not have a warrant nor have they charged the Johanssons with any crime. The officials seized the child because they believe home schooling is an inappropriate way to raise a child and insist the government should raise Dominic instead.” Petition: www.thepetitionsite.com More information: dominicjohansson.blogspot.com (in Swedish and English) Video Sourze www.youtube.com Interesting web sites in …

The idea behind home schooling involves to handle a curriculum at home. When parents take a decision to home school their children, they bear the onus to help the child to cope with the syllabus recommended by officials for that particular grade or level. There are a number of methodologies adopted for home schooling. With each method, the variety of materials also differs.

In the case of educational philosophy, the focus is on a particular linear education like the Charlotte Mason pattern. While in the case of classical education, the focus is on the cream side of literature in any subject, its understanding and application. Then, there is the good old Montessori method that involves the learn-by-grade system. This is similar to the pattern observed in the traditional schools. These are just a few to mention, but with the adoption of anyone method comes along special requirements.

The best method is, without a doubt, the mixed eclectic. The home schooling parent can access a number of resources designed to address the different methodologies. There are specially designed curricula, books, public and private libraries, catalogs, retails, bookstores etc. The home schooling community is also able to receive dedicated help from television, video or radio. The connectivity of the Internet has made it possible for home schooling parents to interact within live forums and a rostrum that is world wide. There are correspondences, which are accessible and designed specifically for home schoolers.

The methodologies and the applications change due to the laws varying within government statutes of one region to another. All the methodologies of home schooling can be successfully imparted and learnt with the help of study strategies like the ‘unit’ method. The unit study method addresses art, social sciences, math and science and theology. The idea is establishing connectivity among the topics. The unit study methodology enables parents with more than one child to teach all the children effectively and simultaneously.

In the case of the all-in-one methodology, the subjects are taught in sets or comprehensive packages. Each package is designed to cover many subjects. The all-in-one methodology includes the supply of special books and material. This methodology is the best for the families, who live in remote areas and have no access to libraries or public schools. This method is widely adopted because the child is able to enjoy a smooth transition to a regular school or college later. The smooth transition comes from the similarity of subjects and the school like atmosphere generated at home.

The all-in-one methodology for home schooling your child is not cheap, but the system allows the application of easy to use material and minimal preparation. The all-in-one methodology comes with step-by-step instructions and regular testing, just like the traditional schools. Parents who are home schooling their children can also consider the approach that enables the student to progress at his or her speed.

The online home schooling option is also there. Regular, traditional institutes have now made homeschooling easier. They offer online assistance in the way of tests, games and practical-hands on exercises. There are a number of communities that also source information directly from places associated with the activity or subject like museums, athletic clubs and science preserves. Another popular methodology of home schooling a child is by taking help from the support group in the neighborhood.

Home schooling is an option that is becoming more attractive to parents as time goes on. Schools have become increasingly unstable over the past couple of decades. Children roam the hallways unchecked, textbooks are outdated, violence is prevalent, children are bullied mercilessly, and the quality of education on the whole has greatly diminished.

What options do parents have to combat this downward spiral? Initially, private school was thought to be the answer. As enrollment in private schools soared many parents failed to see a difference between public and private schools. The problems were still the same.

The option of home schooling has been around for a long time; however, until recently it had not been so popular. The idea of home schooling seems like a cure-all to many parents due to the advantages this type of education provides over traditional schools. Children who are home schooled can avoid many of the problems schools have become known for. For one, the environment is less threatening. Children can learn without fearing other students, aggressive or nasty teachers, and be under the constant supervision of parents. In addition, home schooling allows parents to dictate the academic course of their children. Home schooling also allows students to proceed at their own speed. If a child is weak at multiplication and division, a parent can focus lessons on those skills in favor of another skill that the child might grasp rather easily.

Home schooling is also advantageous because it keeps children away from other students that may be corruptive forces. There are many students in school who do not value learning. This is not any fault of the schools; however, it is still a painful reality. These students can lead to the destruction of a stable learning environment. Home schooling keeps children focused on learning and not on avoiding social pressures.

It may sound like the perfect option, but there are many disadvantages of home schooling. First of all, home schooled children are usually less socialized. While schools can sometimes be the breeding ground for poor social behaviors, school is also a place where students learn to interact with others and build social skills. It seems a bit like a catch 22.

In addition, another drawback to home schooling could be implementation of an educational plan. Many parents are not qualified as teachers and may not understand what is necessary to ensure a child has access to the proper curriculum.

Finally, another disadvantage to home schooling is the necessity for parents to take full responsibility for their child’s education. If you choose to home school your child there is no one for you to blame if your child does poorly. The responsibility falls completely on the parent.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to home schooling. Before you begin a home schooling plan make sure you have evaluated your ability to properly instruct your child and provide a quality learning experience. If you do not think you can handle it, you might as well send your child to school but become more involved with his or her education.

I am asking because my daughter is thinking of home schooling her almost nine year old daughter. My granddaughter is ADHD, and she is taking some kind of medication for it, but the teachers still have trouble with her. Plus they move around a lot. They have been back and forth between New York State and Florida, over the past three years. Florida wants to put her back into the second grade again for the third time. My daughter is getting tired of it, but my granddaughter is also a trouble maker. She hits kids, got kicked off the bus, and almost kicked out of school, and only nine. When she puts her mind to it she is very smart, but because of having the adhd, she also uses that as an excuse. But doesn’t the parent have to have some knowledge of what they are doing, before they start home schooling? Some kind of schooling themself. Some kind of training.I don’t know the laws for what Florida asks for. So if someone could give me some clue for what they might need. Thank you for yourtime
I have no Idea why they move around so much. Besides moving from state to state, they have also moved from place to place down there. In a total of her nine years they have moved at least 10 to 15 times in Florida. I don’t know if they can’t pay their bills, or what it is. Right now they are living in a hotel or motel. I know it’s rough on her, but my daughter does not want to hear anything bad about her husband at all, in any form. They say they are doing fine, and making good money(does roofing work), but if they are doing so great I ask then why do they never have money to stay in one place. We can’t do very much to help, because my husband is disabled, and we are on a limited income ourselves. I agree that my granddaughter needs to stay in one place. She is on meds, and they are watching what she eats, as far as sweets are concerned, but I just don’t know anymore. We aren’t as close anymore. I try to help, but she doesn’t want to hear me at all. She gets po’ed at me. Thanks you.
I have tried to explain that I only want what is good for them, but she thinks I’m against her, which I’m not. I think her husband has got her brain washed. They do go to church, butgod id god no matter what church, but it is the pentacostical(sp). I don’t feel comfortable with that church. But they like it. My daughter is depressed also, and again try to give advice. She has gained so much weight, that her husband calls her Orca the killer whale. Which makes me mad, so I try not to ask about him at all when I call. This way my daughter and I can have a fairly decent talk. I just feel bad about the wole thing. I would like to have them around here more, but my husband also has high blood presure, and last time they were here is shot up to 162 over 90, which is high, and it took quite awhile to get it down. That’s why can’t have them here. Just too much. I would love to have my granddaughter in one place, which I know would help her out, to stay stable. Thank you for your concern, help
